Akira, a meticulous museum archivist in modern-day Kyoto, finds his structured life unraveling when he’s assigned to catalog a recently discovered Edo-period katana. The moment his fingers grace the cold steel of its hilt, he is flooded with violent, fragmented memories of another life—that of Kenjiro, a masterless samurai, a ronin betrayed and cut down in his prime.
These visions are haunted by the face of a woman, his lost love Amaya, and a solemn vow he failed to fulfill. As the echoes of his past grow stronger, Akira discovers that the betrayal was orchestrated by the “Kage-ryu” or Shadow Clan, a clandestine group that has silently manipulated history for centuries and continues to thrive in the corporate and political shadows of Japan.
He soon learns that his reincarnation is no coincidence. The spirits of the past are restless, and the Kage-ryu are closer than he thinks. Worse, he discovers that Amaya has also been reborn, but as a woman named Saki who has no memory of their shared history.
