At nine in the morning, the sky was still gloomy, and dust filled the air, making people want to sneeze.
A month ago, there was a bout of acid rain. It fell in different time periods all over the world, intertwined and scattered, enveloping the globe.
It was now difficult to grow food on the land, and there was almost no sunlight.
The heavy clouds had not dispersed for a long time, and the weather was overcast every day.
The planet seemed to be in its twilight years, its surface shrouded in death.
There were a total of three vehicles in the shelter: a semi-trailer, an ordinary sedan, and a police Sabretooth.
The Sabretooth was Song Ning’s ride, which she had obtained from a municipal public security bureau.
It was about ten kilometers away from the shelter, and very close to where they were going to collect supplies today.
After tidying up, Ping Chengcheng put on the bulletproof vest that Song Ning gave her and said with a grin, “Sister-sama, can you use a gun?”
There was no one else around them.
Song Ning was stunned, wondering why the girl was asking her this question.
“Sister, I’ll tell you a secret, but you must never tell anyone else.”
Ping Chengcheng had Song Ning bend down slightly, and her small cherry-pink mouth approached the girl’s ear.
The warm, gentle breath made the girl’s ears a little pink.
“My dad was the director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau. Before he died, he told me where the key to the armory was.”
Song Ning’s breathing hitched slightly, and she licked her recently chapped lips.
“Really?”
Song Ning already half believed her.
According to what the girl had said before, she had been protected by her parents for two months.
In this apocalypse, only those with good skills could do that, right?
Of course, Ping Chengcheng wasn’t the daughter of any director.
But because of her experiences in her previous life, she knew that the armory key at the Public Security Bureau was a dual key system.
If they could find a locked safe or drawer, two keys could open the armory door.
“Of course it’s true!” Ping Chengcheng pouted cutely.
“But can you use them, sister? If not, I can teach you.” She had a sly smile on her lips, looking like a mischievous little sister next door.
“You can?” Song Ning was a little doubtful.
Just because of the girl’s appearance, she didn’t seem like it at all!
Ping Chengcheng nodded affirmatively, making up a story.
“Yeah, I used to be on the junior shooting team, and I even won a provincial award!”
She was just making things up.
Anyway, it was the apocalypse, even if someone suspected it, they couldn’t find any evidence.
Song Ning believed her for the time being.
She hesitated whether or not to tell everyone at the shelter about this.
But the girl didn’t seem as silly as she thought, and immediately knew what Song Ning was thinking.
“Sister, listen to me, let’s not rush, we’ll secretly go get them when we collect supplies later, don’t tell anyone else.”
Seeing Song Ning looking at her strangely, Ping Chengcheng acted like a little adult.
“My dad said that now it’s the apocalypse, and the only ones we can trust in the future are ourselves.”
Song Ning nodded in agreement, while also being amazed by the girl’s thoughts.
Did the death of her parents make her grow up?
This child… must be very sad in her heart…
The easiness on the outside now is probably her protective color…
Thinking of this, Song Ning lovingly pulled the girl into her arms again.
“Okay, from now on, sister is also someone you can trust.”
“Are you willing to trust sister?”
Ping Chengcheng’s blood-crystal-like eyes flashed with strange emotions.
“Sister… I’m willing…”
“Miss Song!? Are you ready yet!” Zhou Wen’s voice came, a bit of a buzzkill.
“Coming.”
Song Ning took the girl’s hand, walked out of the entrance hall, and entered the Sabretooth armored vehicle.
Ping Yan was still sitting in the passenger seat.
He showed a smile that he thought was handsome when he saw the girl.
Zhou Wen didn’t sit in the back seat.
He said that the supplies for today had to be put in the semi-trailer, so he was driving that car himself.
And no one wanted to sit in Song Ning’s car, which was leading the way, so Ping Chengcheng was the only one in the back seat.
Ping Chengcheng crossed her arms, acting spoiled, and snorted coldly.
“Big brother, your smile is really ugly.”
Ping Yan’s face darkened.
“How are you talking, you little brat? Don’t you know how to respect your elders?”
“Oh!” The girl made a face.
She didn’t have any good feelings for her past self, even though this was her former self…
But she also hated her former, cowardly self to the core.
Ping Yan turned his head back, feeling depressed.
What had he done to provoke this kid?
Why was she so hostile towards him?
Ping Chengcheng stared intently at the back of Ping Yan’s head, a murderous thought rising from the bottom of her heart.
‘It’s this guy… cowardly and incompetent, I really want to kill him… Hehe… I might as well get rid of him sometime… Anyway, he’s just a waste…’
‘No one can approach sister except me…’
Thinking this, her eyes became even more scarlet, and the temperature in the car seemed to drop a bit.
Her evil eyes turned into vertical pupils, like a hunting beast.
Ping Yan shivered, looking around in the car.
“Do you guys feel a little cold?”
He turned his head back and saw the girl with a somewhat terrifying smile on her face.
The smile was very bright, very strange, and her eyes were radiating… murderous intent?
“Ah!” Ping Yan was so scared that he screamed.
Song Ning looked at him dissatisfied, “It’s been two months, why are you still so jumpy?”
Ping Yan coughed violently, as if he was choked by his saliva.
“I swear, she, she seemed like she was about to mutate!?”
Song Ning was slightly startled and immediately glanced at the rearview mirror.
Ping Chengcheng was just like a child in kindergarten, obediently putting her legs together, with her two small hands on her lap.
But her cute eyebrows were furrowed together, looking pitiful and on the verge of tears.
She lowered her head again, her thin shoulders shaking, as if she was struggling to hold back her crying.
“Brother… I’m really not a monster… My eyes have always been like this… If brother doesn’t like me, I’ll lower my head when I see you in the future.”
“That way brother won’t be able to see my eyes…”
Seeing Ping Chengcheng like this, Song Ning felt a bit of anger.
She glared fiercely at Ping Yan, and tried her best to make her tone gentle.
“Okay, okay, Cheng-meimei, I’ll teach him a lesson for you later.”
Ping Yan was stunned.
No, the way this little girl in the back seat looked just now was like the devil, how come now she looked like she had been severely bullied by him?
He was really wronged!
“But, I’m telling the truth! I think she’s really about to turn into a zombie or something!?”
Song Ning looked in the rearview mirror again, the girl lowered her head, but tears were falling down.
“Ping Yan!”
All of a sudden, anger surged from the bottom of her heart.
“Can you say less? Isn’t she just a normal girl? Your eyes are red and you’re this scared!?”
“But…” Ping Yan wanted to say something, but Song Ning immediately interrupted him.
“Stop talking, I really misjudged you.”
Ping Yan’s Adam’s apple moved with difficulty a few times, and finally he swallowed a mouthful of saliva, saying nothing.
He pretended to be okay and leaned against the car window, but the cold gaze on his neck still made his hair stand on end.
He couldn’t bear it anymore and turned his head back, the girl’s blood-red eyes met his.
She was smiling at Ping Yan, completely different from her pitiful look just now!
He was sweating profusely and breathing heavily, sitting in the passenger seat. This was definitely not an ordinary girl! She… she was the devil!
